Someone else is mired in grading

As I wallow in papers and spreadsheets full of test scores, for some reason grading Bush's performance is irresistably fascinating. The 9/11 Commission gives him a 0.88 average. That's not 88%, it's 0.88 out of 4.0, or a 22% average. F-!

All of my students are doing better than the president of the US, so far. I don't think they'll think that a consolation.

Are you sure that you want Bush to get high marks from the 9/11 commission? The Patriot Act, national drivers' licenses, etc. derive directly from that commission.

fusilier, who just finished setting up a lab exam for 650.

Well, no, it's not quite that bad. Grade point averages aren't an absolute scale like percentages. W's 0.88 is a D-minus, not an F-minus.

Yeah, he probably earned it for his anti-terrorism performance, but his grades in his other classes will probably drag that D-minus down a bit.

And that's absolutely the last time I'm going to stand up and defend him.

Hey, I gave the 9/11 Commission Report an F at Amazon.com. Some issues (the fall of WTC Building 7) it didn't treat at all. Others (the paralysis of our air security) it treated idioticly.

What does the Report say about the prospect of fighter jets from Andrews Air Force Base flying to intercept AA Flight 77?
